About Jisc
We believe in ‘Technology for Good’ – in improving lives through education and research. Our passionate team of people want to make a social impact and challenge conventional thinking as they work on cutting-edge, emerging technologies and solutions – the kind you won’t find anywhere else.
A place of openness and inclusivity, here we don’t just execute – we have the creative freedom and support to ideate, build and see our impact on an entire collective. No pigeonholes or boxes, we believe great ideas come from everywhere and we’re all driven to live up to our leading reputation.
Not only do we have the opportunity to work at the highest level, but on meaningful projects too. That’s why we look for brave risk-takers – those who are always thinking one step ahead to power our organisation forward, and realise our digital vision.
Here, world-class is our ambition and maximising our social impact means everything – because when we prosper, everyone prospers. So if you’re ready to own it and run with it, to learn fast and get it done, to take pride in what you do and never stand still, then this is the place.
About you
We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job if they think they can’t tick every box. But we realise the ‘perfect candidate’ doesn’t exist. If your excited about working for us and can do most of what we are looking for, go ahead and apply. You could be exactly what we need!
We’re ideally looking for someone with:
• Experience in a UX-focused role with a portfolio of successful design, UX and research projects
• Knowledge of user-centred design practices, UX design processes, methods and tools
• Experience designing intuitive experiences and compelling interfaces
• Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously whilst learning and adapt to new situations, solving problems and developing new skills
• Confident Presenting and communicating ideas to influence at all levels
About the role
This role is part of the UX team within our Software development group. The team is made up of fellow UX practitioners who work together to solve business wide challenges, improve processes and create operational efficiencies. Individuals work autonomously as an embedded member of product teams, providing their specialist skills to deliver compelling user experiences.
Specifically, this role will be embedded in our Digital Vision team who are responsible for designing and developing our core member and customer engagement platforms. These range from marketing sites to eCommerce tools, as well as business wide shared utilities, such as payment gateways and user management systems.
In this role you will be required to work across the UX skills spectrum. Working closely with product owners as you discover and define the problem space. And forming an integral part of the solution delivery team as you develop, deliver and monitor your designs.
