About the role:
The voice solutions engineer is a new role in the Jisc team that will be the primary technical contact for Jisc’s Voice over IP (VoIP) services. Our initial offering to our customers is our “Session Border Controller,” intended to be a gateway between installations of Microsoft Teams within our customers, and the PSTN via SIP trunk providers.

Responsibilities will include:
• Provide third line troubleshooting and support to the platforms, handling technical queries escalated from the Jisc Service Desk.
• Provide training and mentoring to more junior staff within the company to increase our support skills for the company’s voice products.
• Liaise with customers of the service to understand their requirements and design the appropriate VoIP solutions for them.
• Working with both internal Cloud experts, and experts from our suppliers, you will support issue escalations and help shape and inform the service development roadmap, working closely with the Service Manager and Connectivity Product Manager.

Key Skills and Experience:
• Knowledge of VoIP architectures, including the role of Session Border Controller and SIP trunk providers.
• Designing and implementing resilient, Scalable, VoIP solutions.

Nice to have
Writing and responding to tender questions associated to IP networking, Session border controller and SIP trunks. Training will be given on this skill.
