About the role:
As a Licensing Portfolio Specialist, you will lead your team of licensing managers providing expert knowledge and insight to ensure that your portfolio is continually enhanced to satisfy our members, customers, and funders and aligns with Jisc strategy. You will deputise for the Head of your portfolio as required.

How? Working with sector groups, funders, customers, and other Licensing Portfolio Specialists you will develop the strategy, processes and policies, including high level requirements, that translate strategy into a portfolio that responds both to our member and customer’s requirements and to the markets that your agreements operate within.

Skills and Experience

• IT Literacy: Candidates with good technical skills, preferably with experience in software asset management or working with IT resellers.
• Experienced Leaders: Individuals who have a proven history of line management and developing teams, with the ability to drive change and manage complex projects.
• Strategic Thinkers: Professionals who can support the development and implementation of strategies, processes, and policies, with a clear understanding of how operational activities contribute to strategic objectives.
• Negotiation Experts: Those who have strong negotiation skills and experience in business development, particularly in negotiating high-value or complex agreements and in maintaining long-term relationships with software vendors.
• Innovative and Forward-Thinking: Individuals who can identify and develop new business opportunities, monitor industry trends, and pioneer new agreements and business models.
• Excellent Communicators: Candidates who can effectively convey complex requirements to various audiences, both technical and non-technical.
• Advocates for Digital Transformation: Those with experience in digital transformation, customer management, and business development, who understand the impact of technology on education and research.
• Diverse and Inclusive Leaders: Individuals who value diversity and inclusion, and who demonstrate behaviours that build trust and a positive culture of high performance.
• Legally Savvy: Professionals able to understand and communicate about copyright and contractual clauses.
• Data and Financial Literacy: Candidates with skills in data and financial analysis, capable of making informed decisions based on data insights.
• Educational Technology Enthusiasts: Those who are passionate about the role of technology in education and research institutions, and who want to be part of an organization that drives digital innovation in these fields.
• Sector Engagement: Individuals with experience engaging with the higher education (HE) and further education (FE) sectors, ensuring stakeholders are onboard with initiatives and strategies, and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with key
sector partners.
