We’re ideally looking for someone with:
• Previous experience of working in content design, ideally on websites with rich content, e.g. thought leadership, advice and guidance, reports, member stories, podcasts, films etc.
• Experience of developing, commissioning, delivering and evaluating user-focused content for websites and other digital channels
• Experience of liaising and negotiating with content owners, development teams, designers and senior stakeholders
• Experience of working as part of a team on a daily basis – a collaborative approach is essential, so the successful candidate will be a team player with an adaptable approach
You will also have good knowledge of:
• Writing for the web, web data analysis, information architecture as well as UX and user interface design
• Metadata approaches and their benefits and limitations e.g. taxonomies and user tagging
• Web design and site aesthetics
• Web usability and user testing methods
• Management and operation of a web content management system
About the role:
Commitment to the discipline of content design is essential. You will be joining a communications team of content specialists, so this role is less about content creation and more about design, making sure content is presented in a way that meets our users’ needs.
You’ll be working on a wide range of projects including large events and campaigns, and play an important role in reviewing and refining content as we move to a new content management system later this year.
You’ll help deliver our content strategy, working with our media team, digital communications, member communications, marketing and subject experts from across the organisation - effectively communicating the information users need and want while raising the profile of our brand.

• Providing specialist content design and support expertise
• Planning and following evidence-based and user-centred design approaches
• Organising and editing content supplied from different sources (which will vary in quality and complexity)
• Liaising and building relationships with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders
• Interpreting data and research, to help teams achieve a deep understanding of the people that use the website, and to inform the design of content
• Developing and delivering training, support and advice for colleagues
• Supporting a community of web publishers across the organisation to enhance and protect Jisc’s reputation
• Working in an open, iterative and collaborative way in a multi-disciplinary communications team
• Contributing to the development and evolution of web content policies, standards and guidelines
• Engaging in continuous professional development to maintain expertise in content design at the highest level
