Licensing Manager - Further Education and Skills
Salary: from £40,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience
Contract: Permanent - when working full time (35 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid or at any of our hubs

About the team:
This fantastic opportunity sits within our Digital Resources directorate who delivers services that support the procurement, licensing, management, discovery and use of content and software for UK further education, higher education and research. Our products are: licensing (content and software), open research, content and discovery.
We aim to be world leaders in licensing negotiation, intelligence and analytics. The agreements we negotiate and the products and services we provide are shaped directly by the needs of our members, customers and funders – captured through our strategic and advisory groups and continual engagement with stakeholders.
In the next two years we have an ambitious roadmap to support teaching and learning where we aim to transform the ways in which universities and colleges deliver teaching through providing affordable and equitable access to the next generation of content and software. This includes courseware, AR/VR, personalised and adaptive learning and open content that leverage technology to provide an outstanding student experience.
As a Licensing Manager, Further Education and Skills you’ll negotiate innovative agreements on behalf of UK Further Education colleges and skills providers. These pioneering agreements will meet current and future teaching and research needs and meet the financial challenges institutions face.
The role will play a key part in the delivery of our FE strategy and helping institutions meet the government ambitions including the establishment of a technical education system, that rivals the best in the world, to stand alongside our world-class higher education system, invest in maths, digital and technical education and help to address the shortage of STEM skills.
You’ll champion long-term relationships with FE senior leaders, learning technologists, librarians, publishers, and intermediaries and maintain a deep understanding of sector finances and the current and emerging requirements of FE and skills providers. You will need a sound knowledge of the FE curriculum and the requirements of colleges and be able to translate your understanding into valuable licence agreements.

We’re looking for someone with:
• An exceptional communicator, the Licensing Manager will have the ability to think tactically, negotiate, and work with the research and licensing team to make compelling submissions to publishers on behalf of FE colleges. You will able to identify collaboration opportunities and use these to the advantage of FE colleges.
• FE curriculum knowledge and an understanding of regional and national skill needs and employment insight.
• Detailed understanding of FE institutional finances and content requirements. The FE Licensing Manager can articulate these to publishers and other stakeholders, and negotiate for the best possible terms.
• You will be highly driven and focused on achieving outcomes for our members and funders.
• Advanced data and financial analysis.

Connecting with each other is easy, thanks to our technology but getting face to face is something we value and find time for when we can. Our main offices are Bristol, London, Harwell and Manchester, so you may need to travel on occasion.
