The team:
This fantastic opportunity sits within our Digital Resources directorate which delivers services that support the procurement, licensing, management, discovery and use of content and software for UK further education, higher education and research. Our work areas are: Jisc Licensing (content and software), open research, content and discovery.

About you:

We’re ideally looking for someone with:
• A basic understanding of the higher or further education environment, university or college finances, libraries and publishing.
• Knowledge or experience in an either higher or further education institution, publishing or licensing
• A basic understanding of licensing, contracts and copyright
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
• Pro-active approach with ability to think creatively and get things done

The role:
As Graduate licensing manager, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of how Jisc Licensing negotiates agreements for digital content on behalf of UK universities and FE and Skills providers and is supporting the transition to open access. You will have the opportunity to learn about how Jisc licenses content, exploring the differences between content formats, why specific terms are critical to education and research activity and how government and funder policy can drive change in how copyright is leveraged to support students and researchers.

You will work closely with the Licensing Portfolio Specialists, attending meetings and supporting them in negotiations and licensing activity. As you become more confident, you will be expected to take on the negotiation, licensing and management of agreements, developing your ownership of them and taking responsibility for their successful delivery.

Other responsibilities will include:
• Take on the negotiation, licensing and management of agreements, developing your ownership of them and taking responsibility for their successful delivery
• Undertaking consultations with members, customers and funders on publisher offers and reporting on the analysis to inform negotiations
• Applying what you learn to agreements and working with colleagues on the development of new licensing models
• Supporting the Licensing Portfolio Specialists in the creation and implementation of policies and processes to support the effective working of the licensing team and the demonstration of value
• Working with the Licensing Portfolio Specialists and relevant stakeholders to develop model licences /licence and contract terms to meet current and future requirements for education and research use of digital content
• Participating in events with members, such as training webinars on licensing, as part of our programme to share knowledge and develop understanding of licensing
